Yes it was really like that Red and Rover cartoon. High winds greeted the early brace pairings, the late brace pairings and everything in between. Scenting conditions were not good with the first three braces having half, three dogs, with blanks on the score board. Those birds that were found did not hold and were pretty fast leaving the area with a 30 mph tail wind. The scores reflected the conditions for the 15 braces of gun dog, our second sell out in a row for the 2017 season. Our record-setting 18 puppies didn’t care, running and romping with tail wagging abandon through all that glorious bird scent.

     Over in the Gun Dog field the competition was fierce, but newcomer to the club Tori, Pointer female, handled by Grant Robertson took first place with a high score of 187. Hot on her tail was Hoss, Pointer male, handled by Larry Moore with 172 points and finally finishing third was Gunner, GSP female handled by Terry Stunkard with 152 points.     A big thank you to Mick and Crystal Gill for chairing the event and a great Lasagna lunch. The strawberry dessert was a big hit with seconds being the norm. We had men, women, boys, girls, dogs, and puppies having a good time on a sunny day. At one point, there was a gang of 5 boys having a blast while almost staying out of trouble. We are bound to sell out the final trial of the years, so remember to sign up early for the March 18, 2017 trial and get in on the fun.
