Our first field trial of the fall was run Saturday with cool, 34 degree, temps and bright sunshine. It was again the tale of two days in one, with the first braces running in wet grass and low temps and no wind. Everything changed about 11 am when things warmed up and the wind picked up to dry things out. Wet and cold, dogs found birds, dry and warm and they struggled. This was born out with the 6 highest scores coming in the first 7 braces.
James Parnell and Coco took 1st place in the first brace. Bob Dorn and Bella came in 2nd in the third brace and Ben Faulkner and Dottie took 3rd place in the fourth brace.

James Parnell & Coco 1st place in Gun Dog

All the puppies had fun, which is the norm. 1st place went to Rusean Hardman and Duece, 2nd to Ben McVicker and Pearl, with 3rd being taken by Gary Forrest & Hachi.
Where to start with the thank you’s? How about Carl Brown, our unflappable senior Gun Dog Judge, without his participation we probably wouldn’t have had a trial. The other Gun Dog Judges, Mick Gill and Ricky Janssen, who judged and also ran their own dogs, a first for our club, stepped up and Judged and kept meticulous score cards without a single negative comment.
Puppy judging was handled, by what I’m sure seemed like a committee of Randy Billington, did you get to see those Brittany pups of his, Keith Lindsay, Doug Hardesty, and Bob Dorn,
The lunch crew of Bob Dorn, who we want to thank for not burning down the club house BBQing, Linda Dorn and Matt Allen. Job well done as there were no leftovers.
Phillip Ezell for providing our birds and, of course, Purina Dog Foods who donated our bags of Pro Plan to the winners.
See you on 10-26 for our next trial. Sign up early so you don’t miss out.
